JEAN-CLAUDE SANON

REPRESENTING Mattapan Square, Mattapan

AGE 50

THEME SONG "It Takes Millions of Haitians" IN HIS WORDS "We do not need a go-it-alone-style leader representing our community's interest this time around. Our community is blessed by many resources, our citizens being a source of strength and talent we cannot continue to ignore."

IN OUR WORDS Teacher, real-estate agent, and community radio and television personality Jean-Claude Sanon speaks fluent English with a broken Haitian accent, and that may be his greatest asset. We'll say this once: don't underestimate the Caribbean vote. Sanon might seem rough around the edges, but as co-founder of the Massachusetts Haitian American Voters Coalition and a graduate of Suffolk University's prestigious Initiative for Diversity in Civic Leadership program, he's more prepared for this race than some might think.
